I first became aware of Big Nine Outfitters in the early 1970s when a friend asked me to drive up the Alaska Highway and pick up some meat that he had harvested with Big Nine. I was flown up to the main lodge for a night, and while flying in and out I became aware of the abundance of game available in the area. At the time I was in my early 20’s, and not in a position to experience that kind of a hunt. The vastness of the area and ample amounts of game I saw always stuck with me.
It was not too long after visiting Big Nine that I moved to Alaska where I was able to hunt Alaska game, including my favorite, Dall Sheep. In recent years I drew a Bighorn license, this sparked my interest in hunting other species of sheep. I wanted to hunt a Stone Sheep, and after my experience 35 years earlier, I was drawn back to Big Nine. I contacted Barry Tompkins about sheep hunting, and decided to book with him.
